Jacky's Plot Pictures

These are Creeping Forget-Me-Nots. They are a low-lying plant that has spread to cover a pretty large space of underbrush in my plot.

These Pictures are all from my plot located in the ravine behind my house.

This is a map of my plot so you can refer to where each picture is taken from.

This is a Trillium. There were quite a few of these perennials scattered over my plot. This white, three petalled flower is the provincial flower of Ontario. I was tempted to pick one for my leaf collection but remembered that that is against the law.

These are Daffodils. There were a few of these on my plot growing in my neighbours compost. These yellow perennials have bulbs in the soil, and are usually one of the first flowers to bloom in late spring.

These are regular Forget-Me-Nots. They are white and grow very tall in a large section of my plot. They grow where there is a lot of sun (not underneath the trees).

This picture may look like just a bunch of grass but the green plants are really flowers called Cosmos. When they bloom later in the year, there will be many white flowers.

These pictures make my plot look like either a swamp, bog, or an unsightful piece of land. The first picture was taken about two weeks before the second. You can see how the trees and bushes have grown, making the ravine look more pleasant. Both pictures are taken of from the north east corner of my plot. They are taken from almost the same angle (you can see the same trees).

These pictures are three separate times in which I took a picture of the lilac tree in my plot. The first one shows the bud just starting to grow on the branch. Two weeks later the second picture was taken; you can see the purple buds coming out. The third picture was taken a week after the second; the blossoms are almost in full bloom.

This photo is of a decomposing tree. I have a lot of decomposing things in my plot because there is nobody that keeps my plot looking nice.

This picture is an example of how man has affected my plot. Sometimes on weekends I can hear people having parties in the ravine and they leave their garbage behind.

This is a type of mushroom that I found growing on a decomposing tree in my plot. I was not able to identify what kind of mushroom or fungi it was.

This is a cedar tree. It is one of a kind in my plot. There are very few coniferous trees in my plot.

This is a Locust Tree. It thrives in moist soil which is probably why it is growing by a creek. This picture was taken from the north side of my plot. The leaves of this tree are very small so it does not give a lot of shade. These trees are mainly used for on peoples lawns because they look very nice and aren't too shady.

Animals in My Plot

(all these animal shots were very hard to get)

This is a Maple Tree. My plot is mainly covered in young maple trees. This is one of the more mature Maple trees in my plot. The maple tree is Canada's national tree and its leaf is on the Canadian flag.

This is a Jack Rabbit. It is my favorite animal in my plot because it is named after me! I do not usually see these rabbits in my plot, but I was fortunate enough to have a telephoto lens.

This is the classic Earthworm. This is a decomposer in my plot. It breaks down the dead material and makes the soil more nutritious. It took some digging to get this picture because the live in the soil.

These three pictures are of Deer. Since my plot connects to the Bruce Trail, they come down and live in my plot also. They especially like to feed off of the bird seed that is generously provided by the residents on our street.

This final picture istaken from the bottom of the ravine, looking up towards the north side of my plot (my house). This is to give a sense of what my plot looks like from the "inside".

This is a red squirrel. This animal has the largest mammal population in my plot. They thrive on nuts, and small tree fruits. Most of the squirrels in my plot are black.

This is a picture of a Robin coming out of its nest. They feed on seed and worms. There are not too many birds in my plot because of all the cats and squirrels.

This is a Possum. It looks like a cross between a rat and a porcupine. They like to feed on compost and other fruits or nuts. I am most proud of myself for getting a picture of a possum in my plot.
